Tony was the best guide. He came out earlier than scheduled to greet us and explain in detail, showing us many places at Oxford. Above all, it was the best thing to introduce delicious coffee shops and restaurants in downtown Oxford. On my first trip, I met a good guide like Tony and I really liked England. I'm sure you'll have a great trip if you choose Tony, too. Our two kids loved Tony, too. Thank you very much for making me a very kind and fun trip. Tony! I look forward to seeing you again. Good bye. Tony!
The Tour is very good, it is the best way to discover the city and see the most outstanding buildings and places. Tony, our guide, was very dynamic at all times, he explained in detail what each site is and what happened there, all accompanied by some curious anecdote. We made a stop in one of the oldest taverns in the city that many famous people have passed through, among others: Oscar Wild, Stephen Hawkings, Ernest Hemmingway, Elizabeth Taylor, Ben Kingsley, Emma Watson ... The truth is that I found it very interesting. Highly recommended, a very good way to spend a lovely afternoon.
A lovely way to see the city. Tony took us on a leisurely and interesting walk around Oxford, looking at the amazing colleges and taking in some of the buildings’ cloisters and dining halls. We stopped for a break and drink mid way through the tour. Tony is a charming and helpful guide to the city having lived in Oxford all his life.
Tony is incredibly knowledge about Oxford history and great spaces to visit. depending on your group size, Tony will go out of his way to make it a memorable and unique experience and I highly, highly recommend.
Terrific 3hour walking tour with a great personable guide!! Tony was so knowledgeable and we saw so many spots we never would have found on our own. He was flexible and yet took us well in hand. Good stops for yummy gelato and then to a pub for a pint. Lovely afternoon including organ music (practice in a college Tony knew was open).
Tony has a wealth of knowledge to share about not only the history of Oxford but also day to day life. He knows a few hidden gems to visit and will take advantage of an open door for a sneaky peak. Very small groups, only 3 in ours, which allows for more discussion and personalisation. This is a must do and I suggest you do this first, as Tony can guide you to the best places to visit.
A thorough and thoughtful tour of Oxford. Tony knows the city well and gives solid background info and tidbits you probably wouldn’t learn on your own. If you’ve an afternoon free in Oxford, this tour is just the thing. From the story of the old city wall to the history of the colleges, this tour is wonderful. Highly recommended.
This was a very enjoyable experience. Tony is a very pleasant personable guide and the small group format made it relaxed and personal. It was interesting and informative without being overly scripted. Saw lots of little hidden parts of Oxford. Can certainly recommend it.
I was worried my kids would not enjoy the tour as it involved walking for 3 hours. But, they ended up having a good time. Kids are 10 and 14 years. Tough to satisfy teenage boys so I was very pleased that my son though very tired after the tour, told me that it he found it interesting and learnt a few things.
Tony is simply all you need for an informal and information packed trip around Oxford! Taking in the key buildings, stories about the history and context they were created, along with cheerful banter every step of the way. The pace is great as it is a 3 hour walk, however he cleverly fits in a pub stop for a quick beer (or coffee) on route and then off for the final leg. We enjoyed every step and would highly recommend to anyone wanting to be part of a small intimate group (he doesn't do large touristy parties that you see around) you won't regret it. Thanks Tony will keep a look out for you on the streets of Oxford next time we visit.
Fantastic tour with Tony! Tony is very nice and friendly. He introduced the history of oxford in a detailed way and told a lot of interesting stories about the celebrities in this university. I enjoyed the time very much. Strongly recommended!
Tony was personable, knowledgeable and full of fun stories about literary figures and historical events. The small group felt more like friends walking around this beautiful city than a tedious lecture. Highly recommend.
Tony was very informative. We saw places which we couldn't have seen on our own, like the inside of New College. We had great company so the time just flew away.
It was a really good tour pitch at the right level, very informative to be interesting without information overload. Tony was incredibly personable, knowledgeable and helpful. Would definitely recommend you book a tour.
From Oxford University to Blenheim Palace deciding what to see and do in Oxford can be daunting, especially if you have limited time. Thankfully myOxfordtravel have created day by day itineraries tailored to different tastes and interests such as Harry Potter, history and entertainment.
It was a great tour! Quite fun, and Tony is very knowledgeable about the history of Oxford. Took us to interesting places, and definitely would recommend the tour to anyone thinking about discovering Oxford in one day!
An extremely insightful tour that covers many bases, Tony is very friendly and enthusiastic and it is clear that he has a great love for the city. Would definitely not have known to visit these places and the history behind them without the tour.
